  75. and its features, along with instructions for its installation. Quite
  76. detailed documentation is included in the package, but it is in archived
  77. form, and is more easily read after installation.

  86. Infodex is a shareware program. You may use it for up to 2 weeks,
  87. without charge (see INFODEX.DOC for more details).  If you like the
  88. program, and wish to continue its use after this evaluation period, you
  89. are required to pay for the program (see REGISTER.DOC for more details).

  111. ===== Installation =====================================

  113. The installation procedure for Infodex is quite simple.  The package
  114. includes a program, "INSTALL.EXE", which automates the entire process.
  115. You will need about 1 megabyte of available disk space on the hard drive
  116. on which you plan to install Infodex.
  117.  
  118. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  119. Infodex.
  120.

  122. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  123.  
  124. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  125.  
  126. 1. Place Infodex distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the appropriate
  127.    diskette drive.
  128.  
  129. 2. Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program on the distribution
  130.    diskette.  For example, if the distribution diskette is on
  131.    drive A:, type the MS-DOS command, "a:install".
  132.  
  133. 3. Follow the instructions presented by the installation program. You
  134.    will have a chance to approve installation before any changes are
  135.    actually made to the contents of your hard drive. The program will
  136.    ask you for a destination directory, and will copy the Infodex files
  137.    to that directory.  If you received Infodex on two diskettes, you
  138.    will need to insert Disk 2 in the diskette drive when asked to do so.
  139.    If you so direct it, the installation program will install executable
  140.    programs and documentation in other directories of your choice.

  143. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  144.  
  145. If you downloaded Infodex from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  146. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  147. following steps.
  148.  
  149. 1. Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  150.    directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  151.    varies, depending on the form in which you received the
  152.    package. In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading
  153.    this text means that you already have the necessary tools and
  154.    knowledge to perform this step.  If not, you should be able
  155.    to obtain directions for this from the same source from which
  156.    you received the package.

  159. 2. Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program which you have extracted.
  160.    For example, if the temporary directory into which you have
  161.    extracted the files is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS
  162.    command, "c:\tempdir\install".

  165.    program. You will have a chance to approve installation before any

  180. (filename extension "doc") which have been installed.  In particular,
  181. read at least the "Installation" section of the file INFODEX.DOC. That

  183. other information you need to properly evaluate Infodex.  We hope you
  184. enjoy the program.
